About the Founder
MeLea started Your Cognitive Coach in 2021 to meet a need in the community for skilled neuro-rehabilitation and trauma-informed care in real-life settings. While gaining experience in acute care and acute rehabilitation (Craig Hospital), she began to wonder what happened when patients returned home to real life. In her time at O.T. Plus, Inc., she was able to learn about the next step of recovery and how difficult it can be to integrate strategies and experience success outside of the hospital and out-patient environment. Through years of experience, MeLea has learned about the power of partnering with patients to create goals that relate to their challenges and interests and lead to success in any stage or place.
MeLea received a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Kansas and a Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Boston University. She is licensed to practice speech therapy in Colorado and maintains a Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association. While serving on the Board of Directors for the Colorado Speech and Hearing Association, she was elected Co-Chairman of the Public Policy committee and helped to draft state legislation and lobby for certification of SLPs in Colorado, which then was signed into law in 2012.
In her free time MeLea can be found enjoying her family, friends, the great Colorado outdoors, playing the piano, and reading any good book.
